This course focuses on the rise and development of the English novel through the seventeenth and eighteenth Centuries. Works include Bunyan’s The Pilgrim's Progress, Haywood’s Love in Excess, Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe and Moll Flanders, Sarah Fielding’s The Adventures of David Simple, Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels and Fielding’s Tom Jones and Joseph Andrews.

The aim of this course is to familiarise students with English Semantics through studying formal meaning in Linguistics. It attempts to answer the question: how do we create meaning from the utterances we make? Some of the topics which will be discussed are: semantic features, semantic roles, lexical relations, idioms and collocations, and sentential semantics.

Ce programme comporte quatre grandes parties : Grammaire/Conjugaison/Vocabulaire/Expression Écrite et Compréhension.
Les deux premières parties se divisent en plusieurs leçons.
L’étudiant va apprendre des règles de grammaire et de conjugaison à côté du vocabulaire qu’il va acquérir au fur et à mesure. Il va s’entraîner à lire et à comprendre un texte en français. En plus il va pratiquer la langue oralement pendant les cours en apprenant différentes expressions idiomatiques.
