About the course:‎

The course is concerned with the student’s cognitive study of the characteristics ‎of life in terms of organization and cells, response to stimuli, evolutionary ‎adaptation, energy use, growth and development, reproduction and internal ‎balance giving examples of model plants.‎

The major topics of the course are the following ‎

‎1)‎ The types of plant tissues with reference to the suitability of the plant cell ‎and tissue structures for their  functions

‎2)‎ The laws of general genetics as well as genes and their transmission in ‎mitotic and meiosis cell divisions and mutations

‎3)‎ The concept of modern classification systems and general characteristics ‎and examples of the kingdoms of protists, fungi, plants as well as the ‎prokaryotes and viruses and the foundations of binary nomenclature of ‎plants as well as other living organisms ‎

‎4)‎ The external morphology of plants particularly types and shapes of roots, ‎stems and leaves and their modifications, as well as flower structure
