Mission Statement

The program of Library and Information Science at the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University is committed to applying a sophisticated scientific curriculum to prepare a qualified graduate who meets the requirements of the local, regional and international labor market, to be able to organize, analyze and circulate information, and to use modern technology to contribute to the development of the profession, research and community service.

Objectives

1.   Prepare graduates in the field of Library and Information Science able to work in libraries and information centers.

2.   Prepare graduates who are able to Promote the profession of libraries and information and gain appropriate appreciation from the community.

3.   Develop the skills of graduates in scientific research and self-learning.

4.   empower the value of the right to freedom of information circulation and use and preserve the privacy and rights of beneficiaries without ethnic, sexual or religious discrimination.

5.   Provide graduates with a culture of citizenship and coexistence with the other.

6.   Confirm the value of scientific cooperation between the department and other departments within the university and corresponding departments inside and outside Egypt.

7.   Build partnerships with libraries and information institutions.
