Aim of the course:
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to
  • Develop detailed information about the development, histology and function of dental hard and soft tissues, oral tissues and salivary glands.
  • Describe the embryology of face and oral tissues.  
  • Describe the anatomy, histology and functions of temporomandibular joint and maxillary sinus.


Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to recognize the challenge that faces the dental professional and healthcare industry in preventing, diagnosing and treating dental caries. Also, upon understanding etiology of dental caries and given fundamentals of caries risk assessment, learner should be able to demonstrate capacity to devise an individualized treatment plan and prevention strategy for case studies they are exposed to and patients they will encounter in the future in the dental clinic.

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

 To fully comprehend the basic science of different classes of materials used in dentistry, their properties including physical, chemical and mechanical properties, as well as principles of adhesion and bonding to dental substrates.
