This course focuses on the organization for matter and energy flow in organisms, cycles of matter, energy transfer in ecosystems, and energy in chemical processes. Teacher trainees are challenged to think critically and creatively about emerging challenges such as activities where teacher trainees develop a model to illustrate the role of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in the cycling of carbon among the biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere.
