Polymers are considered essential materials that play a vital role in our daily lives, as they are found in many of the products we use, ranging from clothing and household items to advanced industrial applications. This course aims to provide a simplified understanding of polymer science in light of the principles of physical chemistry by exploring a variety of related topics.
First, we will introduce some basic terminology related to polymers, followed by an examination of the different principles used to classify polymers. We will also review some of the principles used in polymer nomenclature. In addition, we will discuss the structure of polymers, as well as the molecular bonds and intermolecular forces between polymer chains. The course will also cover the molecular mass of polymers and the methods used to determine it. Finally, we will explore some of the fundamental physical properties of polymers.
