2- هدف المقرر Aims By the end of this course, the student should be able to demonstrate abundant and competent knowledge of contemporary concepts in the: principles of toxicology - classes of toxicants - routes of exposure - toxicant processing in vivo - toxic action - organ toxicity - forensic and clinical toxicology - environmental toxicology - toxicity tests - mechanisms of toxicity - detoxification and biotransformation - free radicals and detoxification.

أ- المعلومات والمفاهيم
Knowledge and Understanding Upon successful completing of this course, the student should be able to:
1- Define the term of toxicology with a brief history of toxicology, sources of toxic compounds and movement of toxicants in the environment.
2- Identify the classes of toxicants.
3- Explain the routes of exposure to toxicants.
4- Describe the toxicant processing in vivo.
5- Illustrate the acute and chronic toxicity, chemical carcinogenesis, mutagenesis and teratogenesis.
6- Describe the events that occur in organ toxicity including hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, toxicology of the nervous system, reproductive system, endocrine toxicology and respiratory toxicology.
7- Explain the forensic and clinical toxicology.
8- Describe the basics of environmental toxicology, transport and fate of toxicants in the environment and environmental risk assessment.
9- Describe the toxicity tests, mechanisms of toxicity, detoxication, and biotransformation.

Skills 1- Analyse mechanisms of transport across the cell membranes
2- Analyse case studies and suggest possible impairments in acute and chronic toxicity.
3- Formulate points of interactions and overlap between chemical carcinogenesis, mutagenesis and teratogenesis

5- Criticize factors that influence bioaccumulation of toxicants.
