By the end of this course the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the most basic concepts in earthquake seismology science in terms of birth of an earthquake, structure of the earth’s interior, elastic waves, seismic deformation and distribution of seismic waves velocities in the earth’s interior, propagation paths and earthquakes classification, recording system, earthquake parameters, magnitude and seismic moment, earthquake intensity, magnitude intensity comparison and relation between magnitude, energy and intensity, frequency-magnitude relationship, first motion, seismic hazard assessment, and to apply this knowledge efficiently under controlled guidance and supervision.
