At the end of this course the student should be able to identify all type of ring closure and ring opening reactions, theories of concerted reactions as electrocyclic reactions (cycloaddition and sigma tropic rearrangements). To develop an understanding of pericyclic rearrangement reactions, and their importance in organic chemistry, based on frontier orbital interactions and the Woodward-Hoffmann rules.
This course aims to study types of free radical reactions, free radical substitution mechanism, mechanism at an aromatic substrate, neighboring group assistance. Reactivity for aliphatic and aromatic substrates at a bridgehead. Reactivity in attacking radicals. The effect of solvent on reactivity.
This course aims to study the reactivity of heteroaromatic compounds and study the methods of preparation heterocyclic compounds and their applications
