The course focuses on the conventions of writing to help students write convincing, well developed, and well-organized essays.
3113 Eng: Novel (3)
The course familiarizes students with the development and the tradition of the 19th century English novel . Students apply the different critical theories on the literary text of Silas Marner written by George Eliot (1819-1880). The novel taught is read and studied analytically. The analysis extends to the 19th century political, social and historical background, themes, characterization and different types of characters, setting, motivation, structure, technique, and style. This course aims at furnishing students with the analytical skills that enable them to analyze and evaluate literary texts academically and critically as well as training them to work within groups, to plan and deliver presentations, and to communicate effectively with each other.

To improve the students' speaking and pronunciation skills.
To develop the students’ competence and confidence in speaking and conversation in general.
